Do you like to think of inventive and beautiful ways to store items? I think if you are going to store items like scarves or necklaces on show then you want the storage to be visually appealing too. These scarf hooks I’ve put together have a rustic feel to them and are unusual. You can paint them to suit your decor.
I found some gorgeous wooden curtain pole finials in a charity shop near to me and thought they were beautiful, and immediately wondered what could I do with them?
I’d been looking for a way to hang some of the scarves that I have. So I decided to find a way to use these finials as hooks. At first I was going to screw them into a piece of wood but thought that it would be very heavy for the wall. I found a shallow crate in a local vintage store and thought that it would be perfect. The finials could sit on the crate and the screws would have the shallow depth of the crate to keep them away from marking the wall.
I painted the finials in Annie Sloan Chalk paint, the colours I used were; Old white, Louis Blue and Henrietta, I am using this hanger in my bedroom which has a white, blue, and pink colour scheme. (See the bookshelves I also painted with chalk paint for the bedroom here.)
I need a way to screw the finials to the crate and I had these drawer knobs left over from another project which is coming to the blog soon. I drilled the hole bigger to fit the finial’s screws.
I slotted the painted finials screws through the crate slots and screwed the drawer knobs to the back to hold the finial in place.
I hung it on the wall using picture hooks and voila.
It could be used as a jewellery hanger too.
