I’m a big fan of the modern rustic look, simple, natural, country inspired looks with a nautical influence. I pinned this image on one of my pinterest boards. I also love the grainsack cushion covers that people make, seen all over pinterest. Inspired by these I thought I would make some cushion covers for my lounge from my fabric and ribbon stash.
A while back I needed to cover a bad sofa, so I used a cheap cotton dust sheet and made a cover from it. The sofa has now been replaced with this ercol one which I love! The dust sheet was no longer required as I had made a seat cushion for the ercol sofa with some striped fabric.
So using this dust sheet fabric and some jane means ribbons I made a couple of grainsack inspired cushion covers.
I made simple cases that are literal ‘sacks’ with a top opening. One of the covers is closed with a popper sewn to the inside top and the other the ribbons tie in two bows to close. The ribbon is glued on with fabric glue. They are very quick and easy makes as I lack time (patience) when it comes to sewing.
Ooops how did he get in there? Cheeky chappy!
