I love the look of gallery walls where you hang lots of pictures in a group. My bedroom wall was calling out for some pictures so I decided to get out the hooks and hammer!

I have two different embroidered pictures. One which I created in the hoop by using this free pattern from needlenthread.com as a basis. I chose some muted green patterned fabric for the background and I added some extra branches and flowers as I felt I needed to for my hoop size.

What better way to display gorgeous patterned fabric than as a picture. I love the trend for hanging fabric in embroidery hoops. Instead of the round hoop, I wanted a more oblong shape so I stapled it to a canvas. But first I stitched some of the detail on the fabric with embroidery thread, which gives some texture and relief to the fabric. I added some beads to the centre of one of the flowers.

I included some notecards that tone well with the other pieces on the wall. I like the idea of hanging them with pretty bulldog clips, it gives another small detail to the group. Included in the gallery wall is a pottery dragonfly? creature that my daughter made, it fits with the garden/nature theme and tonally. The wooden bird picture I made at a Makeve event.

I love that this group is diverse in media and groups together some of my favourite art in colours that tone well. I love grouping pictures together like this but it takes some shuffling, I lay it on the floor first to get the placement/alignment right to my eye and then have to transfer that to the wall. I’m not sure whether I’ve got the arrangement right but there is space around to add to the group and I can move them.

This is a great post on how to create a gallery wall.
